ETA MEETING PROGRAMS
• MARCH 2023 Meeting –
We had a fantastic ETA FELLOWSHIP MEETING on March 19, 2024. 4PM – 6PM.
• WELLNESS MESSAGE: Wellness Idea – A MOMENT FOR YOU – You can do so much in a single moment. You can flash a smile that makes someone's day. You can hug and be hugged. You can give a compliment and let one soak in. You can count a blessing – or two! You can think a positive thought and you can picture your future. A future that looks bright!
• ETA Meeting PROGRAM - – Kindness From Your HEART “MINI Jan Danzigers Art Retreat”! Led by ETA Member, Cheryl King
Welcome to I Found A Quilted Heart!
ETA Members anonymously created and placed small quilted hearts in community places around our town to help brighten the day of a stranger. Cheryl led us through step by step directions to create a quilted heart bout the size of your hand. We attached a small card to the heart that read: YOU FOUND A HEART! PLEASE TAKE ME HOME. On the back of the small card we wrote, “Delta Kappa Gamma ETA Chapter, Bennigton, VT.” Please go to our DKG VT Website and under ETA Chapter, you will see photos of ETA Members enjoying fellowship and creating these hearts. We thanked Cheryl and gave her a red rose.
As always, at the end of every DKG VT ETA CHAPTER Meeting, we form a circle and Sue Green, ETA Music Chairperson, leads us in singing our DKG Song.
• MAY 23, 2024 ETA Membership Meeting
MAY MEETING PROGRAM: Guest Speakers will be our Co-Presidents, Mary An Riggie and Nancy James.
MINDFULNESS Message Mindfulness is the state where you are aware of your feelings, emotions, reactions to your surroundings, and why you do what you do. When you are mindful,
you are less likely to judge yourself or blame yourself. You are at peace with yourself. “The word ‘Namaste’ means ‘the light in me reflects the light in you’ and I think the thing that makes people attractive are the people who shine their light and the people who can recognize t that light in others.” – Chris Sullivan.
At this meeting, we will have our FOUNDERS' DAY CEREMONY.

MINDFULNESS Message
Pay attention. It's hard to slow down and notice things in a busy world. Try to take the
time to experience your environment with all of your senses — touch, sound, sight, smell
and taste. For example, when you eat the meeting snacks on your table today, take the
time to smell, taste and truly enjoy every bite! (Mayo Clinic)

SHOUT OUT to Sue Green, a Music Teacher at Shaftsbury Elementary School in Shaftsbury, VT.
Sue is a DKG VT ETA Chapter Member.
On the Beat
Sixth grade students in Susan Green's music class at Shaftsbury Elementary School spent part of Thursday morning in "Drumming for Success," a grant-funded program aimed at helping students who have experienced trauma. Helping students who experienced trauma manage their emotions is so important. The students each played a djembe, a West African drum purchased with grant funding. Congratulations for a job well done!
This is another example of being a PROUD DKG VT ETA member.
ETA News Fall Report 2021
Encouraging Thoughtful Action
The first thing I want to say is, “THANK YOU to all DKG Vermont Sisters for continuing to be a DKG -VERMONT MEMBER”! Also, ETA CHAPTER is so happy that we have maintained our number of members during this past year of the Covid-19 pandemic. THANK YOU ETA MEMBERS! YEAH!
Our DKG VERMONT NEWSLETTER is a great way to share important information about our ETA Chapter. It is also a friendly way to increase membership interactions. Positive communication is a huge part of our ETA Chapter.
The more we communicate with one another the better we know each other. Communication is important in promoting professional and personal growth in women educators and excellence in education. That's our MISSION! Our ETA Team and Committee Chair-people met in June, July and August, 2021 at the Second Congregational Church to make tentative plans for our 2021- 2022 year. Lots of ETA meeting program ideas were discussed, along with fundraising ideas and ideas to support our local educators and education. ETA Chapter will continue to have a positive attitude and do what we can to move forward and help our local educators. DKG VERMONT and ETA Chapter will be a part of the conversation and collaboration that provides support to all learners, their families, and communities.
ALL ETA MEETINGS for 2021- 2022 will include a FUNDRAISER RAFFLE to raise money to support our mission: to promote professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education. Fundraisers will be gift certificates to support our community businesses.
The ETA TEAM welcomed Bennington area Faculty and Staff back to school. Along with SWEET TREATS, we delivered a Welcome Back To School sign and a THANK YOU sign from DKG VERMONT ETA Chapter. We also left the DKG Membership pamphlets with information about joining our DKG VT ETA Chapter.
They really appreciated our treats and kind words as their new school year begins. There were a lot of laughs while eating Twinkies and Ding Dongs!
ETA Chapter stays positive and continues to show kindness to others.

Nichole Forest is a proud member of Eta chapter VT. She is the daughter of educators who served the Bennington, VT school community. Following in her parents’ footsteps, she continues their legacy by demonstrating a strong commitment to education and literacy. Previously working as an elementary school librarian, Forest transitioned to Mount Anthony Union Middle School, where she currently serves as librarian.
Forest serves as the Eta chapter treasurer and diligently prepares clear and accurate reports. By managing the chapter’s various accounts, she offers important insights for increasing and/or decreasing spending. She is an active member on the Eta team, which plans the Eta chapter meetings and events. Additionally, Forest values sharing the honor of membership in DKG and often seeks outstanding prospective members. As a result, she sponsored two new members who were inducted into DKG last year.
Because of her love for literature, Forest has coordinated literacy programs & projects for Eta chapter. In collaboration with the Bennington Bookshop, she has displayed interesting books, has held book talks about favorite youth books and best-selling novels, and has shared some of the creative discussions she has had with students. Both she and her chapter are proud of the chapter members’ book donations which were distributed to local children at a FALLAPALOOZA event.
Through her position as an educator and a DKG member, Forest has made a strong impact and many positive connections with students and families in the Bennington, VT community.

Eta Chapter News
ETA continued their annual WINTER WARMTH project and collected donations of hats, scarves, mittens and socks for their local school children a little differently this year due to the Covid -19 pandemic. From December 4 -December 9, 2020, Linda Moxley placed a box on the front porch of her home for ETA members to bring their donations there and place them in the box. Linda's address is 327 Safford Street. THANK YOU LINDA!
Some preferred to make a monetary donation to our WINTER WARMTH PROJECT in the form of a check, sent checks made out to ETA Chapter to Nicole Forrest at 207 Union Street, Apartment 4. Bennington, VT 05201. Please write Winter Warmth as a note on your check. Checks were sent to Nicky by December 9,2020. Eta members gladly shopped for warm items! Once the Winter Warmth donations were received, the ETA Team delivered the hats, scarves, mittens and socks to local schools in theBennington region. We had a very successful WINTER WARMTH PROJECT this year.
