Ann Bannister- Thought of the Day
“We would like to train for wisdom, not knowledge. And what we are training for is knowledge, because we can measure it.
But knowledge is not convertible into human happiness and well-being. Wisdom is, because wisdom is learning how to live in harmony with the world.” (Ram Dass)
Ram Dass, also known as Baba Ram Dass, was an American spiritual teacher, guru of modern yoga, psychologist, and writer.

Vermont Achievement Award
presented By Ann White, ETA Chapter
Recipient- Haley Grossman-ETA
The purpose of the DKG Vermont Achievement Award is to recognize and honor a member who has been given distinguished and outstanding service to DKG Vermont and has promoted the purposes of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International.
It's with great pleasure that I nominate Hayley Grossman for consideration for the 2023 DKG VT Achievement Award. Hayley Grossman is an active member of DKG VT ETA Chapter and because of her relentless contributions to this organization and the Bennington community, I believe she is a prime candidate for this 2023 DKG VT Achievement Award.
She eagerly volunteers to support our ETA TEAM. When Hayley volunteers to do something for ETA, we know it will get done. When asking for volunteers for ETA projects, like the DKG VT EEC and ETA's Winter Warmth Project, Hayley donates time and items. At a DKG Leadership meeting in Rutland, Vermont Hayley heard about the DKGIEF Grant and she stepped up and jumped on board for ETA Chapter to be a part of writing the DKGIEF Grant. This DKGIEF Grant is an exemplary display of what our DKG VT organization and Hayley represent in our community.
When asked to be the chairperson for the DKG VT Woman Of Distinction Award Committee she said ,“Yes”. Hayley eagerly participates in the professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education.
Hayley has been teaching for 6 years. She is currently a Behavior Specialist at Mount Anthony Union High School in Bennington, VT. She enthusiastically spreads her love of learning and the importance of community service to her learners. She often says she is proud to be a DKG member.
I strongly endorse Hayley's nomination for the DKG VT ACHIEVEMENT AWARD and believe that her efforts to promote the DKG Mission make her the best candidate for this award.
DKG VT ETA Chapter is very proud to nominate Hayley Grossman for the 2023 DKG VT Achievement Award.

Guest Speaker
Edna Thayer, was the guest speaker at this year's DKG Vermont State Spring Convention. Her topic was "Laugh for the Health of It" based on her book A Mirthful Spirit, Embracing Laughter for Wellness by Mary Huntley and Edna Thayer. The DKG Vermont members thoroughly enjoyed her topic and there were many great belly laughs, chuckles, and smiles as she showed the huge benefits of laughter for our overall health using scientific research to support her theories. DKG Vermont was very pleased to have her speak after trying to have her come once before the pandemic hit. Edna and her daughter were very happy to visit Vermont. Edna would like to speak in every state in the country and she had not yet come to Vermont. We were very glad she did.
