About Us
DKG Vermont is the state organization of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, which includes more than 70,000 members in 17 countries. As Key Women Educators we strive for excellence in education and dedicate ourselves to making a difference in students’ lives, in our community, and in the world. DKG Vermont has six chapters with nearly 225 members representing all levels and disciplines of education.
Membership in the Society is through invitation only and carries with it responsibility as well as honor. Members commit to an active role in special projects, programs, and organizational activities.
DKG Vermont supports several social advocacy projects. Soup Bowls for Hunger, The Winter Warmth project, Kindness Art Project, Child literacy through book collections and donations are some of the contributions our DKG Vermont members make.

Mission Statement and Purposes of
The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International
The Delta Kappa Gamma Society was founded May 11, 1929 in Austin, Texas by Dr. Annie Webb Blanton and eleven other women educators representing various levels of education. This Society was formed for educational and benevolent purposes. Particularly for extending aid to women teachers and students by means of funding scholarships for study, for developing loyalty and high ideas in the teaching profession, and for conferring distinction upon women educators of the teaching profession.

Purposes
1. To unite women educators of the world in a genuine spiritual fellowship
2. To honor women who have given or who evidence a potential for distinctive service in any field of education
3. To advance the professional interest and position of women in education
4. To initiate, endorse, and support desirable legislation in the interests of education and of women educators
5. To endow scholarships to aid outstanding women educators in pursuing graduate study and to grant fellowships to non-member women educators
6. To stimulate the personal and professional growth of members and to encourage their participation in appropriate programs of action
7. To inform the members of current economic, social, political, and educational issues so that they may participate effectively in a world society.
