MARKETING REPORT
Donna Stone
DKG VT's social media marketing strategies include email, content, website, facebook, letters
to the editor and more.
As the Marketing Chairperson, once a month or more I email Chapter Presidents and our DKG
VT President and ask what is happening in their Chapters. I am the contact person for ETA Chapter
and in the monthly emails, I share what has been happening in ETA Chapter and publicized in the local
newspaper. I also include a photo or 2 that shows ETA's publicized events. I encourage Chapter
Presidents to reply to these monthly emails and share what has been happening and/or publicized in
their Chapter. Sharing and discussion DKG VT Projects like Winter Warmth, often sparks a new idea
for all of us.
Another part of this monthly marketing is reminding Chapters to publicize their
accomplishments on the DKG VT Website and DKG VT Facebook page. Send to Claire Reczek) The
more we communicate with one another and market our DKG events, the better we are at completing
our DKG Mission to promotes professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in
education.
If you any ideas to even better market DKG VT, please let me know!

Fines Arts Committee Report DKG Vermont Executive Winter Board Meeting
Follow up o Jan Danziger Arts Day held on October 22,2022, in Rutland,VT at BROC Distribution
Center :
Our Fine Arts Committee is so thankful for the patient, knowledgeable, creative art workshop
leaders that made our Jan Danziger Arts Day so successful.
Marcia Barron- Pressed Flowers Cards, Jeanne Laughton- Iris Folding, Tia Poalino, Carol
Romeo- Illuminating Fairy Jars, Cheryl King (Tia Poalino, Carol Romeo)-Folded Christmas
Ornament, Heather Deleone-Water Color Art, Julie Williams-Canvas Panel Painting, Claire Reczek-
Quilted Log Cabin Santa, Flannel Gnomes
Sorry that Cheryl King was home sick with covid on ARTS Day and couldn’t lead the Folded
Christmas Ornament Workshop. Cheryl had prepared all the materials needed for the workshop. We
were very grateful that Tia Poalino and Carol Romeo stepped in to lead the workshop with the aid of
an online video.
Wanted to thank Carol Barbagallo and Marcia Barron for taking numerous pictures of the workshops
that day. When using I phones or Smart Phones, please send large size photos in emails when pictures
are to be used on state web site.
We thank everyone for bringing all the delicious food for our Pot Luck lunch. Also so thankful for all
the people who helped clean up after the day was over.
Thanks to Marcia Barron for sending Tom Donahue a thank you email and donation for use of the
building.
Ann Bannister –Thank you for dealing with the money taken in and the money needed to pay out to
instructors etc.
There were about 20-22 attendees on Arts Day. Seven or eight more had to cancel because they were
sick with covid and personal reasons. Most participants were from Gamma and Eta closest to Rutland
area. We also had 3 other chapters represented and two members of New Hampshire DKG.
We received many very positive responses from our evaluation surveys that we sent out. The liked the
location and facility. Attendees thought all workshops supplied all the materials needed and had
excellent workshop leaders. One comment was to allow more time per workshop. One suggestion was
not to have the 2:30pm gathering at end and make afternoon workshop a longer time period. Another
suggestion was to have a designated photographer to take pictures throughout the day. Maybe even a
student photographer or volunteer photographer not involved in the workshops.
Posted many wonderful pictures of the day on DKG Vermont state web site
https://alphalambdavt.weebly.com/2022-jan-danziger-arts-day.html and some on DKG Vermont Face Book Page. Carol Barbagallo posted pictures also on Instagram.
Thank you so much for all you each did to make this a successful Jan Danziger Arts Day.

Communications Report DKG VT Winter Executive Board Meeting- January 28, 2023
At this time this year we were just in the investigation stage of updating our state DKG Vermont
website. So it is so exciting to have this update completed during the early summer of this past year.
At the Summer Leadership meeting in Rutland, VT on August 3, 2022, Claire Reczek, our state
webmaster led the members attending through a slideshow of the changes that were made to our state
website. An email of a document explaining the changes with pictures of the menu bars on the different
Tabs listed – Home, About Us, Calendar, State Officers, Chapters, DKGVT State Newsletter, Projects
and Events- was also sent out to Executive Board members which includes our state chapter presidents.
Hopefully it then was passed on at a chapter meeting or through email to chapter members. Limiting
the number of TABS to seven makes the website much more user friendly.
It is important to keep current with all the new technology that is being developed. Our DKG Vermont
website now has additional tools, such as a site search box that would make locating information on the
web site easier and quicker. More digital formats such as audio and video posts can also be uploaded to
the web site. All of these added features should further encourage DKG Vermont members to utilize
the DKG Vermont State website.
Recently updated information of the two Super Sessions held in November and December of 2022 and
the Warmth Projects that each chapter is participating in have been posted on both the state website and
DKG Vermont Face Book Page. Please continue to forward pictures and descriptions of projects and
events being held in your chapters.

Historian Report 1/28/2023
Paula Townsend
The Historian's job is as a member of the membership committee and may complete special projects in
cooperation with the state president. The historians keep news clippings, photos, and may also advise
chapters on ways to maintain chapter histories. The historian may have a display at the state
convention.
As the current DKGVT historian, I have been reviewing years of historical records and information. I
had questions as to what records to keep, for how long and how to store them . Here's what I found in
the "Go to Guide for Chapter Members -Handbook of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International.
It states:
"For long storage, it is recommended that hard copies be kept in addition to electronic records.
Records of historical importance are the names of chapter, charter members with biographical data; a
brief review of the chapter's beginning, name of deceased members and dates of death and the
official inductee register with dates of induction."
This retention schedule has a list of records and how long to retain them in the handbook.
Retention Schedule
1. Membership list 4 years
2. Constitution /Bylaws /Rules permanent
3. Minutes permanent
DKGVT has an great website that has current information along with historical records and
information.

Leadership Committee Report
DKG VERMONT Executive Board Meeting January 28th, 2023
A Leadership Committee meeting to be held via Zoom will be scheduled with Chapter
Leadership Chairs for a mutually agreed upon date in early February. For chapters that have a 2nd Vice
President that person is traditionally the Leadership Chair for that chapter. For chapters without a 2nd
VP, the Chapter President appoints a Leadership Chair.
DKG’s mission includes promoting professional and personal growth of women educators. A
significant ingredient of growth is developing and enhancing leadership skills. Growth can come from
a variety of activities at both the chapter and state levels of DKG. We sometimes equate leadership
with holding an elected office. There are other numerous activities that hone leadership skills and
benefit DKG as well as the individual. At the chapter level the list could include mentoring new
members, reaching out to members who have not been attending meetings for some time,
communicating with shut-ins (not even necessarily DKG members), creating a call list to be divided
among half a dozen members to remind all members of up-coming chapter meetings, heading up a
service project for the chapter and the list goes on.
Filling elected officer positions at both the state and chapter level is crucial and an excellent
way to use one’s leadership skills acquired as an educator. In addition, both the state and chapter
organizations have committees with appointed chairs and committee members. No matter where we
are in our careers – actively working or retired – serving on a committee provides opportunities for
continued personal growth.
This spring new state officers will be elected. The newly elected president will be appointing
new chairs and naming new committee members. If she asks you take on one of these roles, she has
confidence that you can do the job and enhance your leadership skills in the process.
Serving as a leader brings the reward of enduring friendships with people that we might not otherwise
get to know.
Mary Ann Riggie, 2nd VP, DKG VT

Rules Committee Report, January 28, 2023
1. President Carol sent to our Executive Board members updates to International’s Constitution that
were adopted at the International’s Convention, July 2022. These have been reviewed by our Rules
Committee for incorporation into our Bylaws and Standing Rules. Our revised documents will be
finalized and sent to International by June 1, 2023.
2. To date updated Chapter Rules have been submitted by four Chapters: GAMMA, EPSILON, ZETA
and ETA. The remaining Chapters have unusual circumstances which have delayed submission of their
Chapter Rules to the State for review. It is expected these will be forthcoming. The Rules
Committee is in the process of reviewing each Chapter’s rules relative to updates and changes made to
International’s Constitutional at last summer’s Convention. Chapters who have submitted their
Chapter’s Rules may expect to receive a response from this committee prior to Spring Convention.

BETA CHAPTER REPORT
1-28-2023
BETA Chapter has been busy planning for the DKG VT Spring Convention on Saturday, April
29th in Brattleboro. The Executive Board will meet on Friday evening, the 28th, at Centre
Congregational Church on Main Street in Brattleboro.
Every active member is on board to help make the Convention interesting and fun!! We have
been meeting in the music room at my school in Dummerston. In September we inducted a new
member, Deborah Hall, a retired teacher..
In October, President Carol Barbagallo attended our meeting and gave us encouraging words
about the history of DKG and how it has evolved over time into what we have today. We had a lively
discussion of how we can attract new members.
In November, we had our annual book project. Members collect new or slightly used children’s
books and bring them to the meeting. We glue a small DKG information sheet onto the inner cover of
every book. We then place 10-15 books into attractive containers. Each of us takes one or two
containers with us to deliver to the Women’s Crisis Center, Pediatrician offices, the local courthouse,
etc. for children to read in the waiting rooms.
In December, I began a Christmas letter online asking each member to reply with a few
sentences of what they would be doing during the holidays. Every member responded! It was a
wonderful way to stay in touch with everyone and catch up on their plans and traditions.
We support four social concerns throughout the year. We donated socks and toiletries to
Morningside Shelter. We are collecting winter socks, hats, gloves, jackets and boots as part of our
Winter Warmth project. Some members are giving a monetary contribution.
We are connecting with each other by email or phone as we go over the list we are following for
the Spring Convention. We are very much looking forward to hosting the Convention in Brattleboro.
Please be sure to attend!
Respectfully submitted,
Rita Corey

Fine Arts Committee Report- January 28, 2023

Music Report 1/28/2023

Respectfully submitted,
Martha Fleming, Chair

Respectfully submitted,
Rita Corey
