The Art of Kindness Display- Bennington Free Library
Linda Donigan, Children’s/Young Adult Librarian at Bennington Free Library graciously offered a space in the Children’s and Young Adult’s room at the library to hang The Art of Kindness project sponsored by DKGV. It will be on display until July. Delta Kappa Gamma International Society promotes professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education.
The Art of Kindness project used art work and literature found from various sources that depicted Kindness and shared it with the students at different schools. These chosen pieces demonstrated the many different and various ways you can use art to show how kindness looks, feels, or sounds. Students of different ages throughout the state then created their own art work to illustrate ways to see, feel, hear and share a touch of kindness.
Covid -19 made it difficult for many schools to complete the art work. The four schools across the state that did send their art work were Molly Stark School in Bennington -5th-6th, graders, Mettawee Community School in West Pawlet-6th graders, Twinfield Union School, Plainfield -Kindergarten Class, Rutland Art Club- 5th and 6th graders. We want to thank Tessa Ma Donald- Molly Stark Art teacher, Rebecca Emerson- Kindergarten teacher Twinfield Union School, Amy Harris- Mettawee Community School Art teacher, Deb Dauphinais -Retired Rutland Art teacher and Lisa Boerner -Special Educator -Rutland Art Club. These dedicated teachers and their talented students made this project possible.
