Anna Tadio,an Immigration Attorney, gave a very informative talk and slide show presentation about Pathways to Citizenship in the United States. Anna Tadio is a staff attorney for U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants. Her primary responsibility is working with Afghan Refugees in the State of Vermont. She said she had a team of six pro-bono attorneys who work with her to help Afghan Refugees navigate all the legal processes they must go through to apply for visas, work permits, green cards, and family reunification. Anna did a thorough job of describing the difference between a refugee and immigrant. Alghans and Ukrainians have been given a Humanitarian Parole Designation for up to 2 years which allows them to have access to work authorization, refugee resettlement programs and other federal benefits. Anna admits that the Immigration Process is broken in the United States and needs to have reform. It is a very complicated and hard to navigagte system. It will take a great deal of time and work to help fix some of the many problems in the system. Ann Tadio is interested in being someone who could help move progress forward in this area.
